Assigning Work Categories

Work Categories are used to accommodate unique work and non-work situations during assigned Shifts, with the purpose of adjusting the Shift's budget and/or applying a different Earning Code other than Regular. Once Work Categories have been configured at the company level, they can be applied directly to any assigned Shift. This can be done in both the Employee View and the Daily View of the schedule.

Employee View

Within the Employee View, every assigned Shift will have a three-dot menu with various options to manipulate the Shift. Among the options is "Change Work Category". To apply a Work Category to a Shift, simply select this option.

Employee View Assign Work Category

Upon selecting this, a pop-up will appear allowing for the selection of a Work Category. The dropdown will display all Work Categories set up at the company level. If the desired Work Category is not available, it must be added at the company level. For instructions on how to do this and what to consider when doing so, please refer to Empeon's article Work Categories.

Within Daily View, the specific Shift, and the date it is taking place, will need to be selected first in order to view the employees that have been assigned. Each employee that has been assigned to the Shift will again have a three-dot menu with various options to manipulate the Shift. Among the options is "Change Work Category"—select this option to apply a Work Category.
