What are Request & Approvals?
The Request & Approvals feature within Empeon Workforce allows employers to significantly enhance how their employees utilize and interact with the ESS Hub.
Request & Approvals offer an array of permissions that allow employees to use their ESS Hub to edit their information and submit requests for time off, reimbursements, and more. When establishing these permissions for employees, Workforce Administrators can set approval workflows to ensure that employee submissions are reviewed before any changes take effect.
To view and configure the array of requests that can be made within the ESS Hub, navigate to the Rules & Alerts section of the Company tab and select the Request & Approvals Card.
There are five categories of requests to consider:
- Employee HR Requests - There are five request types within this category, all of which influence the HR-related information found within the ESS Hub Profile.
- Employee Payroll Requests - There are two request types in this category that influence how employees are paid: reimbursement requests and changes to tax information.
- Employee Benefits Requests - There is only one request in this category: the ability for employees to request time off.
- Employee Attendance Requests - This category is only available for clients utilizing Empeon's Time & Attendance feature. The ere are two request types in this category: submitting time card adjustments and calling out from scheduled Shifts.
- User Requests - While the primary function of Request & Approvals is to customize the features and capabilities available to employees within the ESS Hub, there is one request type that impacts Users of Empeon Workforce.

For requests that have been set up, any approval process that has been established, often involves one or more "Assignees" to review and approve the requests. For more information on how to review and approve requests as an Assignee, refer to Empeon's article Reviewing & Approving Employee Requests.
