Empeon Release Notes - November 13, 2025
New Overtime Card for OBBBA Overtime Tax Deduction
We are excited to roll out a new Overtime Tax Deduction Card that is now available in Company Payroll settings of Empeon Workforce to support the provisions set by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).

The OBBBA includes a federal tax deduction that allows eligible employees to claim the overtime premium portion of their wages as a deduction on their federal tax return. To support this legislation, Empeon has introduced a new Overtime Tax Deduction Card. This card confirms how the company calculates overtime, including whether it is flat or blended, and identifies the associated earnings codes. These details allow Empeon to accurately determine the totals needed to support reporting under the OBBBA.
The configuration of this card will be necessary in order to complete the Year-End Processing for 2025. For more details on what goes into this process, please register for our Year-End Processing Webinar on Tuesday, November 18th at 11am EST.
Please also reference our written 2025 Year-End Processing Guide available at any time within Empeon's Help Center.
Assigning Code Groups When Creating Earning Codes
We have made a few enhancements to our Code Groups feature. Now, when adding a new earning code, there is the ability to automatically add it to an existing code group if needed. This helps streamline code group maintenance and ensures that as earnings are added, they are applied to the necessary code groups immediately.

Copying a code group to another company now works even when the code group contains earning, deduction, or tax codes that do not yet exist in the company it's being copied to.

Bug Fixes
- When generating PBJ exports, the system previously included seconds in punch calculations and rounded total hours to only one decimal place, causing discrepancies with CMS reporting standards. The export now correctly truncates seconds and rounds hours to two decimal places (e.g., 7.33 instead of 7.3), ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with PBJ submission requirements.
- Previously, an error would occur during onboarding when Washington D.C. was selected for state withholding, resulting in the W-4 link to display incorrectly. This has now been fixed.
- There were some reported cases where User Comments entered for Manual Pay Items on the Time Card were not saving and would disappear. This has now been fixed.
- There were some reported instances where employee imports would fail to create an ESS account, even if the employee's email address was listed on the file. This has now been fixed.
- There were some reported cases where available shifts were cut off when assigning a Shift Schedule Pattern. This was related to how the schedule display adjusted to screen size and resolution. This has now been fixed.
